I'm a Salty Dog
I stepped on the scale this morning and I'm down another three and a half pounds from when I pouted about my weight, making it a total of 5.5 pounds that I've lost in just a couple days. Looks like that excess salt came with a lot of excess water weight.
Yesterday was my first day of not additionally salting anything, and according to the Daily Plate, I was still over my recommended sodium intake by about 350mg. This might sound like a fail to you, but when I looked back over my nutrition intake from the last couple weeks, I was averaging about 1000mg to 2000mg over my recommended dosage. Some select days I was up to something like 4000mg of sodium in a day. Yowza.
Today is day-three of no Coffeemate. I had two cups of French press coffee, black, and not an ounce of me wanted to break down and buy creamer. My two slices of peanut butter toast may have had something to do with that - the peanut butter was sweet and creamy enough that it almost felt like I needed the black coffee to cut the richness.
Tomorrow evening I leave for Sacramento for a friend's wedding. Wish me luck in staying on track!

Keeping It Delicious
I like to eat egg whites for breakfast because it has a ton of protein, very few calories, and zero fat or cholesterol. The problem is they are bland. For months I've been sprinkling them with Montreal steak seasoning, but I've grown tired of this staple and have taken on a new egg white companion - the best one yet.
Marinara sauce in an egg white omelet is absolutely wonderful, and also very low in calories. Two egg whites plus two tablespoons of marinara comes to roughly 50 calories and packs 8 grams of protein, 3 grams of carbs, and only 1 gram of fat. 1/8 cup shredded mozz is only 40 calories and gives it more of a pizza taste. The whole glorious shebang is about 90 calories, and is packed with protein to help last you through the morning. Can you beat that?? No, no you can't. The trick is to be very diligent about how much cheese you are actually using - that can get out of hand (at least for me) really easily.

wtf granola??
I was all excited about this cholesterol-free breakfast I love, but the calorie count is pretty much through the roof. 700 calories is ridiculous! I feel tricked! Am I just having sticker shock or do you think it's worth it?
Here's what's in it:
1cup granola mix:
low-fat granola with pumpkin seeds and flax seeds
dried cherries
sliced almonds
raw walnuts
1/2 cup greek yogurt
1/2 cup fruit
Half an english muffin with a tbsp of cream cheese and an egg on top is only 300 calories including my coffee with coffeemate. Is it worth it to double my calories and go cholesterol-free? Am I being too anal about the whole thing? Since I'm only supposed to take in a net of 1600 calories I'm feeling a little miserly.
Also, it's been over a week and I'm still at the same weight. I kind of feel like I suck. Maybe I should just take delight in the fact that I didn't gain any weight during the holidays, but I still feel a little defeated. Any suggestions?
